Dedicated Research Exchange and Mentorship (DREAM) Programme 2011

Participants' responsibilities

1.           DURATION.  End of May to end of August 2011.

2.           SUPERVISION. A local supervisor in the Biochemistry Programme will be assigned to successful applicants who have to complete a coaching program before departing from Hong Kong .  During the program, students will learn some of the basic techniques and background information related to the project.  Students are encouraged to continue the project in the laboratory of their local supervisor.

3.           REPORTS. All participants have to write a mini-review (3- 5 pages) about their research topic before going to the foreign laboratory in May and a brief report to the Programme after the trip in August.  They may also write a full report for ¡§BCHE2070 Research Internship¡¨ and take ¡§Research Internship¡¨ as an elective course in first term of the coming academic year (11-12).

4.           COURSES. The summer research project may be equivalent to the final year project of the Biochemistry Programme.  However, the participant and his/her supervisor may decide whether the results from DREAM project be used for the presentations of BCHE4300 Selected Topics in Biochemistry and BCHE4410 Supervised Research in Biochemistry.

5.           VISA. Successful applicants must apply for entry VISA on their own.
