Exercises or activities are divided into 4 groups and are put on different levels of the Physical Activity Pyramid. Just like for the Healthy Diet Pyramid, the 4 levels represent how much exercise to do.

Top Level 4: Rest & Inactivity - Do as little as possible!

Watching television, playing video or computer games and sitting more than 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, get up and be active!

Level 3: Flexibility Exercise, Strength/Muscular Development Exercise - Do almost every day!

Leisure activities, such as, dancing, martial arts and skipping rope; and exercises for flexibility and strength, such as push-ups, sit-ups, weight-lifting and stretching.

Level 2: Active Aerobics, Sports & Recreational Activities - Do several times per week!

Aerobic exercises, such as, swimming, cycling, jogging, brisk walking, skipping and playing basketball, badminton, football.

Bottom Level 1: Lifestyle Activities - Do every day!

Climbing stairs rather than using elevators, walking to or from school, sweeping, washing and active play at playground.
