Exercises
or activities are divided into 4 groups
and are put on different levels of the Physical
Activity Pyramid. Just like for the Healthy
Diet Pyramid, the 4 levels represent how
much exercise to do.

Top
Level 4: Rest & Inactivity - Do as little as possible!
Watching
television, playing video or computer games and
sitting more than 30 minutes. After 30 minutes,
get up and be active!

Level
3: Flexibility Exercise, Strength/Muscular Development
Exercise - Do almost every day!
Leisure
activities, such as, dancing, martial arts and
skipping rope; and exercises for flexibility and
strength, such as push-ups, sit-ups, weight-lifting
and stretching.

Level
2: Active Aerobics, Sports & Recreational Activities
- Do several times per week!
Aerobic
exercises, such as, swimming, cycling, jogging,
brisk walking, skipping and playing basketball,
badminton, football.

Bottom
Level 1: Lifestyle Activities - Do every day!
Climbing
stairs rather than using elevators, walking to
or from school, sweeping, washing and active play
at playground.
