Qualifications for Admission
In addition to the general qualifications as stipulated by the Graduate School, all applicants must fulfil the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" before being considered for admission. Please refer to Graduate School homepage (http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/gss) for details on such requirement. For admission to a Ph.D programme, applicants should normally possess a Master degree in Biochemistry or in a related field from a recognized university. Applicants may also be required to demonstrate a clear understanding of the basic principles of biochemistry.

Programme
The programme is research-oriented. A student is required to take courses, tutorials and to submit a research proposal to be approved by his/her supervisor, and to pass a candidacy examination. In the final year of study, a student must submit a thesis to his/her thesis committee which will make assessment together with the student's annual oral or written progress report. It normally takes three years to complete the programme.
